It can be hard to book hotels near the Twin Cities, even if you’ve done it many times. It’s better to book a room ahead of time, right? What are the rules for canceling? What is a fair price? How about programs that give rewards? Here are some things to keep in mind to ensure you book the hotel that works best for you.
When to Book
Don’t wait until the last minute to book your hotel. Do it early. It’s best to book one to two months ahead of time unless you’re going to a famous event or during a major holiday. If you book too early, you might get the best deals, but if you wait too long, the hotel might be fully booked or only have the most expensive rooms available.
Use the Star Rating
If you are not working with a limited budget, you should exclude all hotels near the Twin Cities rated between one and three stars and select only the four or five-star options. Or both if you are willing to consider either option. Your list of results will be significantly shortened as a result of this. Having something to chew on that is less overwhelming in terms of volume will make the decision process much simpler for you.
If you aren’t sure whether or not you should be looking for a 4- or 5-star hotel, all you need to do is make a fast rate check at a couple of the hotels that come up in your results to determine whether or not your budget can stretch that far.
