How to Make the Most of Your Open Fire Cooking Grill

Once people started cooking with gas and electricity, open fire cooking went out of fashion. But it has made a comeback in recent years due to the unique taste it gives to food. When you use an open fire cooking grill, the fire will caramelize the natural sugars in food and make your steak taste heavenly. However, there are a few things about open fire cooking that people are still unaware of.

Divide Heat in Zones

You can spread the coals in your grill to create gradations of heat. It is best if you make three different heat zones in your grill. The first zone in your open fire cooking grill should have the most number of coals and must be the hottest. The second zone can be slightly cooler, and the third is where you can put the meat to cool it down. When you create zones in your grill, it will be much easier to cook meat on it.

Grill Meat the Right Way

Instead of putting the meat on the hottest part of your grill straightaway, start with letting it rest on the third zone. Once the meat has heated up, you can put it in the hottest zone. Don’t forget to turn the meat so both sides can get cooked properly. The middle zone is where you will have to bring the meat to make sure it is cooked thoroughly. If it is your first time using the best-quality open fire cooking grill, you may have trouble figuring out when the meat is ready. But if you grill meat on a regular basis, you will learn to recognize when it is ready. Don’t forget to put the meat in the cooling zone for five minutes before you serve it.
