If you’ve always struggled with weight loss, don’t worry: you’re not alone. Not only does our metabolism slow as we age, but busy schedules and social norms can complicate our relationship with food. At The MAX Challenge, we understand how insurmountable these barriers can feel, but we believe that anyone dedicated to their health can achieve weight loss goals. To this end, we suggest a few simple starting blocks on your journey:
- Eat well. Fill your diet with fresh and unprocessed foods to make sure you get your daily dose of nutrients. Forego the potato chips and snack on an apple with peanut butter, or trade that burger dripping in saturated fat with a blackened salmon salad. Focus on enjoying your food, only eating when you’re hungry and always stopping when you’re full.
- Exercise consistently. Take the stairs at work or park farther away at the grocery store, and make an effort to get a good workout in at least three to four times per week. If joining a gym isn’t up your alley, find an activity that brings you joy: check out local sport leagues, swim a few laps around the pool, or dig out those ole roller blades. Make fit, fun!
- Practice accountability. Yes, a busy schedule can make it tough to fit exercise into your schedule, but small things like having a workout partner or tracking your progress on an app can help to develop your sense of responsibility when it comes to your wellness. If you can work, you can work out: and the paycheck is your health.
